half way thru shark week.. and were off to the beach. ?

not the best time to plan a vacation to the beach.. during shark week.. but what are the odds?? hopefully i will not be regretting those words anytime in the next 5 days! just the same.. the little's just left with nana and papa. my other kids just laid down for their afternoon snooze and i am about to finish packing for our TRIP! im so excited to be visiting va beach tomorrow!!! and the OBX should be a blast. good friends, good food, good times!


ps - hopefully i will have time to post pics of my baby brothers fabulous birthday party this afternoon.. thats my goal anyway - we shall see if it happens. {i have been known to plan too much stuff in too little time :)}

palmers + carters at the lake

as promised.. more to myself than anything..here's my recap of our awesome weekend with the carters in altus. the pics from this post are probably still my favorites. but there are tons more to share. and the weekend was definitely a memory i dont want to slip away.

we left on friday evening around 6PM just as planned..

kennedy insisted on riding with marly.

we headed out of pine ridge estates and hit the rode bound for altus, ok. more specifically quartz mountain and lake lugert. we had no use for the resort because jaime's parents own a cabin on the lake. but there are great pics on their site of the area. {you know me..i mostly took pics of the little people.} after a quick stop at the dq in denton - where kennedy ate most of a dipped cone in about 30 seconds - we drove straight thru. the kids didnt sleep much. but they traveled well. in fact korb finally fell asleep about 20 min before we got to altus. holding his fishing pole.after stopping in altus to stock up on groceries for the weekend, we made it to the cabin and got them settled in for the night. then jaime, brye, kyle and i stayed up WAY late just talking. it was so nice. i cant imagine why we dont do it more often. seeing that we live 4 blocks from each other..

saturday morning - after they made a grand entrance. james and i (and momma kennedy) took the little boys to the beach while the big boys went fishing for a little while. then they picked us up on the boat and most of us enjoyed a ride across the lake. poor korb. he was apprehensive at first. but game to try out this boating thing.. until brye hit 'some big bumps' and then he was done. hated it from then on. every time we would stop to switch skiers/tubers he would say. 'i have to get off the boat' ...'i have to' ..'i have to get off this boat'. it was sad. but funny. and despite his lack of interest in water sports i think everyone got their fill. everyone took a turn in the water {except for me..im a watcher :)} about half way thru the day we stopped on a beach on the other side of the lake for lunch. we made sandwiches and let the boys run around. they had a blast. i have to admit that kyle shot the photos in this slide show. i love them.

i think this pic of korb holding dada's finger is absolutely precious.
saturday evening after a long nap to recover from all the sun.. we had burgers and dogs on the grill and then we took a little walk. the boys had a blast. they both LOVE being outside. another duplicate.. but one of my favorites!

sunday morning jaime made delicious pancakes. forgot to mention the breakfast burritos from saturday.. they were AWESOME! then we went back to the beach for one last dip in the lake. ate some lunch. cleaned up {ourselves..and the house :)} and then headed home. we had such a great time. cannot wait to do it again! thanks for the invite carters!!!
