a little he said/she said..

last night at dinner korbie told us a story in the most normal everyday voice as if it were just on his mind and it cracked me up!!

it all started when i asked KP how his day was..

dada:  mostly same ol' same ol' but pretty good!  [then he told us a bit about his day...]
mommy:  korbie, how was your day?
korbie:  [in his best daddy impersonation]   same ol' same ol'.
mommy:  [even tho no one asked ;)]  mine was pretty routine also.  but i'll take that over a bad day any day!
korbie:  you know what doesnt happen everyday?
dada: [intrigued]  whats that korbin?
korbie:  ...its not everyday that someone can feed five thousand people with just five loaves of bread and two fishes.  but that did happen one day.  thats a crazy story.  thats what you call a miracle.

hahaha!!  that is a crazy story.  crack me up.  and im so glad you know it little man!

he said she said

wowwww!  its been ages since my last rendition of he said she said. =)  im sure ive missed SO many cute things..

a little history.. i love country music.  wellll, i love all music, honestly.  ive listened to my fair share of hiphop - when you live on the east coast you have to or they'll kill you. =)  and  thankfully [due to my husbands fading addiction] we dont listen to much trance/techno anymore but it is a definite requirement in this marriage to at least be aware of the likes of paul van dyk. =)  and of course i have my faves that absolutely do not fall in the country category.. high school stuff like the cure, u2, rem and pearl jam.  stuff from my 20s like train, stp, the offspring.. the list goes on and on.. three doors down, fuel, creed{shhhh}, coldplay {even if it makes me gay =)}.. not to mention my love affair with jimmy buffett that began in 1998 and only grows stronger with age. what makes me happy right now is eyb, charlie robison, josh abbott band, pat green, randy rogers band, bleu edmonson, bart crow, even casey donahew.  when i hear my little guy singing along to this.. it makes me ridiculously happy. =)

to say that i am a kiss 106.1 girl nowadays would NOT be accurate.

HOWEVER.. ive recently come to realize that kennedy IS that girl right now.   so in good mommy fashion ive been diligent to keep up with current hits.  its a must to know what your 'tweens are singing along to, right?  i remember a tape that my mom bought for me when i was really young.  i begged for it at walmart.  i went straight upstairs and listened overandoverandover trying to learn all the words.  the first time my mom overheard me mumbling prince's darling nikki lyrics she took that tape away.  and i never saw it again.. from then on stephen curtis chapman and dc talk were the only tapes allowed in my room. =)  it wasnt like prince was on the radio in childress.. but thats not the case in 2010.  she can listen to whatever she wants on her radio or iTouch when im not right there with her.  so, for the most part, when im with the kids at home or in the car.. we listen to whatever SHE wants to listen to.  like it or not.  must be aware...

wow thats a lot of history!!

so this morning korb and i had this conversation..

korb:  [running around the house *screaming*] LIKE A G6 LIKE A G6
mommy:  what are you singing???
korb:  you know that blizzard song about an airplane that sissy likes.
mommy:  why brother?  why are you singing that?
korb:  its just gets stuck in my head mommy...

ugh!  me too, NOW.  thanks a lot little man.  thanks a lot.

a little he said/she said..

a conversation between kennedy and daddy this week..

kennedy:  wanna hear my new favorite saying?  no chiz.
kyle:  why would you ever say that?  like youre trying to think of a new word for S%&T?
kennedy:  no dad.  its just funny.  they say it on iCarly.
kyle:  in what context?
kennedy:  well.. like if someone says something obvious then the girls say NO CHIZ..
kyle:  yea.. youre not allowed to say that. ever. k?

glad we cleared that up.  iCarly.. who writes this stuff? =)

a little he said/she said..

a few korb funnies that i dont want to forget too soon..

after searching for what seems like DAYS for the lock kp keeps in his gym bag for the locker room, korb and i had this hilarious conversation..
mommy:  KORB - where is that lock??  think hard buddy! where did you put it?
korb:  im not sure mommy.
mommy:  did you hide the lock?
korb:  {looking puzzled that i would EVEN SUGGEST hiding the lock} uuuuhh.. no.  it isnt BROKEN.

LOL.. oh i see.  he only hides things he breaks.. note to self. =)

while being super lazy at nana and papa's over thanksgiving break.. i heard this conversation between korb and daddy.
daddy:  korb, can i have your loooooooooong cool hair?
korb:  {giving daddy that look.} uuuhhh..no.  its attached.
daddy:  {giggling} OH. well, then, how do i get my hair to be long and cool like yours?
korb:  {shrugging shoulders} you just have to grow it.  like a plant.

LOL!  like a plant? too funny.  and since november chia-kp has been growing his hair.. like a plant.. =)  i would love to post a picture - but he wont let me near him with the camera.  maybe next month.

a little he said she said..

happy october! i failed to document.. well, if im being honest.. much of anything during the summer {sorry nana & gran-gran}. im hoping fall is a different story. and to start things off.. a little he said she said. {aka silly things my kids have said to me lately that made me laugh out loud. literally.}

korb: {soon after getting home from preschool and while zipping his pants leaving the bathroom} mommy, did you know that there are actually little balls inside the hangy part of my business?
mommy: lol. actually.... ??

now please excuse me while i text your dad about your discovery. he will be so proud. =)

kennedy: {a few weeks into her 4th grade career} mommy, most of the girls in my class are wearing bras this year. when do you think i will need a bra?
mommy: um. honestly. need one? it will probably be a while.

like when she's 25 and finally buys herself a nice rack.. =)

a little he said she said..

time to resume a little segment i like to call a little he said she said.. it should really be a daily thing. the k's crack me up EVERYDAY with out fail. sometimes its proof they are little geniuses. =) and sometimes just reminders of their innocence.

knp after i told him that we HAVE to find a new teenage sitter {our favorite moved away =(}
mommy: korb we HAVE to find a new sitter!
korb: can you just get jarrod saltalamacchia?

lol. somehow i dont think he's available this friday night..

knp after walking as far as he could walk at the softball game and then begging to be carried.
mommy: korb i have to put you down. im not going to make it.
korb: mommy. hang in there. i prooooomise. you WILL make it. just keep walking.

um.. why didnt i think of saying that to him? WHY?

ksw after learning of mj's death.
kennedy {crying over the phone}: mom. did you hear that michael jackson died?
mommy: i did sweetheart. dad and i were worried about how you would hear. dad tried to call you. we know you loved him.
kennedy {crying}: i was at school. the teachers and i were upset and all the other kids were looking at us like we were crazy.
mommy: aw. im sorry kenners. im glad that you understand the significance. we understand why youre upset.
kennedy {still crying}: thank you for worrying about me mom. i knew you would understand. i should have pretended like i didnt know so that you or dad could tell me.

lol. if only we could always hear news {good or bad} from the right people.

a little he said/she said..

on tuesday evening, kennedy and i attended open house at her school. her teacher is great.. we talk often. no surprises. we looked thru all of her things. had a stroll thru the classroom and then we were off. on the way out the door we heard some other kids talking about college day later this week. 'we are supposed to wear something from our favorite school'.. the little kid informed me. when i asked what she was going to wear.. she said with a smile, 'my dirk university sweatshirt.' i laughed out loud. go mavs.

yesterday..completely out of the blue..korb told me that we need a deer to hang above our tv. like jamie maxwell has at the cabin in east texas.. 'you know mommy. just the deer's head. we dont need all of it. and we can hang it right there over our tv.' i laughed out loud. no thanks.

the random thoughts of a two year old BOY..

this morning i was on the phone with kp.. filling him in on the details of a very sad story. more tragedy in the life of someone i love dearly. its so hard not to be able to help.. fix.. when someone is hurting. ya know? anyway.. i was telling kp that i HATE that my sister cannot seem to catch a break. life keeps throwing her one challenge after another. she is so strong.. but when is enough enough?

korb had definitely been listening in on my conversation with his dada and when i hung up we had our own conversation that went something like this:

korb: mommy, my auntie jenny cant catch a break.
mommy: i know, korbie. i hate it.
korb: she needs a break mommy.
mommy: i know korb.
korb: she needs to go to a mavs game.
mommy: she does?
korb: yes. she needs to sit really close. and watch dirk make baskets. and call for champ the horsie to come over. that will make her happy.

hmmmm... lesson learned. he is very thoughtful... in a boy-sort-of way. i guess he knows what would make him feel better when he needs a break. :)

love you lots, jenny. things are going to get better..

kids say the cutests things..

i dont do a very good job at blogging every day stuff. SO i thought i would try to make it a point to record some of the funny stuff my kids say to me more often! and i should note the pics have nothing to do with anything.. just a couple of my recent favs that i havent posted.

after a ride in the ha-hoe yesterday with his dad.. where im certain his sissy was watching a movie.. i had this conversation with korb.

korb: i dont eat remotes..
mommy: thats good baby.
daddy: ask him why!
mommy: why dont you eat remotes korb?
korb: it'll make your teeth fall out.

sometimes my husbands style of parenting makes me say hmm. but whatever gets the job done, i guess.

on sunday kennedy and i heard a song and part of the lyrics were about a phone booth. wondering if she had any idea what she was singing along about.. i asked -

mommy: whats a phone booth?
kennedy: you know.. its like that thing the terminator went in to find all the sarah connors in the phone book.
mommy: oic.

again.. the things they learn from their dad. :)
