my parents are in town for a visit! ..well, actually my dad is taking a cont ed class for his hospice position at the hospital today in bedford. which is hardly 'in town' BUT they are in the metroplex and im excited to see them! think i have them talked into staying the night and going out to dinner instead of heading back after the class. somehow they havent seen kenners since october. that seems crazy. she has grown and changed SO much during this school year. lovin on my parents sure does make me in a great mood! ahhhhh. family!! <3

other than that we have NADA planned for the weekend. ; ) i'll let you know how that turns out!

it has been so long since ive written down something funny korbie said to me.. and theres something worth writing almost every single day. the conversations get longer and more intriguing but in the end i laugh and he looks at me like im crazy. then i rush off to tell his dad. every. single. time. lol.

so the other day we were out of lunchables. thats what i pack for korb almost daily in his lunch box. a lunchable. a fruit. a veggie. and a gatorade [or lemonade]. i like routine. ;) and im pretty sure that most moms worry about their kids lunch being different than everyone elses.. i think thats common. so i pack a lunchable [almost] every day. eliminates the worry factor. so the other day we were out of lunchables. i packed him a hot dog [in a bun]. some green olives [which he loves]. some pringles. a banana. some cheese. and a chocolate cake ball for a surprise! kinda random but i thought he would be excited about a little change.. that night while he was taking a bath i asked him about his lunch. and the conversation went something like this.

mommy: so.... notice anything different about your lunch today at school?
korbie: yes! and it was great!! thank you!
mommy: what did you have?
korbie: a sandwich?
mommy: no...
korbie: a cake ball!!!
mommy: yes! what else?
korbie: [annoyed] ...ummm lets see. chips. i remember that because sam yelled across the room 'LOOK KORB I HAVE CHIPS TOO!'
mommy: so chips and cake.
korbie: yep! thanks mom youre the best!
lots more... can you think of anything else? here's a hint.. was it ___? this goes on for a looong time.
mommy: ...there was a hot dog. and olives. and...
korbie: oh yea!!! and a banana and some cheese that i DO NOT like btw..
mommy: lol. ok. note to self. what did everyone else at your table have for lunch?
korbie: [completely annoyed.] mom. are you serious? it took us 10 mins to remember what i had for lunch.. you really think i know what anyone else had?????

he also asked me earlier this week while we were watching the Mavs ring ceremony [finalllly got their rings!].. he said, 'mom why is shawn marions tan still so great in the middle of the winter?' HA!

..one of those 'i cannot believe its only tuesday..' weeks. ugh. the weather has been GREAT! but its cloudy today and its supposed to rain rain rain. its no secret that im not a fan of cold winter months so im very very thankful for these 60 & 70 degree days that break it up. but rainy bad weather weeks also mean that when everyone who leaves the house for school or work gets home they dont want to leave again. so im guessing that besides my trip to the grocery store i will not leave the house until the sun comes out again this weekend. that make the week seem realllllly realllly long.

in other news.. i captured this pic this morning. maggie and miley forgetting to pretend that they do not like each other. =) or maybe its just a case of love the one youre with.. but either way THIS is why i wanted a puppy. to keep maggie company while everyone else is busy working! love.

kennedy PROMISED to let me take some pics of her today.. for a blogpost like the cap gun fun post from yesterday. gotta hold her to that for sure! until then..

our weekend in review..

'we have no big plans except...' famous last words of a jammi-kp weekend. so our 'no big plans' weekend went something like this. friday night, after THE HAIRCUT, we had dinner at mannys in uptown with some friends of ours. they had invited us to see led zeppelin 2 at the house of blues in dallas. what a cool show! afterwards we ended up at ghostbar for a little while. it was my first trip up that infamous elevator [in dallas..not the og of course ;)] and it was tons of fun! thanks greg and shannon! cant wait for another date night!

the kids had a sleep over at a friends.. korb and his buddy grant were back at our house around 9AM. we spent the morning being super lazy and listening to the kids play. i love that he is getting big enough to play with out constant supervision. yet i hate that he is growing up so fast. ugh.

saturday afternoon we had a late lunch at fuzzy's taco shop with the kiddos. kennedy was not interested in being photographed for our [almost] weekly check-in at fuzzys.. but she did take these random pics of korbie and i being silly after we had finished out fabulous lunch! lol.

then we loaded up everyones clubs and headed over to top golf in allen to meet some friends for a few hours. everyone had a blast.. despite it being a bit chilly outside. we hung out until korb could not hang out anyyyyy more!

then kp and i got dressed and set out for fort worth. we were invited to a birthday party for THE Rick Reagan ;)) we had a blast! we havent seen Rick and his lovely lady in years. it was so nice to catch up. and lucky strike bowling alley is a super cool place to hang out with a group of friends! we stayed up way late catching up and reminiscing. great fun!

and then you guessed it. we were L A Z Y on sunday. laaaazzzzzyyyyyy. this weekend we really have nothing planned. ;)) we'll see how that turns out...

and the verdict is..

compromise! =)) his bangs are WAY shorter than they have EVER been. which is a big deal for me =( but it gives him an idea of what it would be like above his eyes.. i dont hate it and he says he loves it. BUT he did ask me this morning how long it will take to grow out enough to put it behind his ear again. =) mission accomplished!! i dont think he will be asking for a haircut like daddys again anytime soon!

that is the question. im sure there will be mixed opinions about this little post [if anyone is reading..that is. ;)] and im even a bit reluctant to write it but ultimately.. its only my opinion that counts - right? lol.

i love korbs hair. i love that its different than every other little boy we know. i love that its a topic of conversation. i love the way it looks. i love that its so him.

he wants it to look like daddys. he has been asking since the school year began to cut it really short. i, of course, hate the idea.

this week on tuesday he and another child got into trouble in school for 'trimming' their hair. it happens.. kennedy did the same thing when she was his age. its very common. he did a really good job. ; ) its not even noticeable. on thursday he got sticky tack in his bangs. it was just like gum.. i combed it out. it happens. kennedy has gotten gum stuck in her hair before when she was his age. its very common. ; )

daddy thinks he is 'crying out that he is done with it'.. i say no one asked us what wanted our hair to look like when we were 5! his sister definitely never had a choice! ..until she could fix it herself we did not value her opinion of what it should look like and im pretty sure THAT happened about 6 months ago. she's 12.

anyway kp and i have been discussing cutting it shorter for awhile now.. NOT as short as daddys but definitely different than it is now.. im not sure why im having such a hard time with it. i mean..

'its just hair.'

'he's 5.'

'he'll be adorable no matter how long his hair is.'

'it will grow back.'

i GET all of that!

but i love this..

we have an appointment this afternoon.. im sure it will still be long by societies standards but i feel like this is the beginning of the end of my long haired baby boy and im more than a little sad.

im so excited for my friend stacey. she is getting married to a wonderful man [chris] that we all love very very much! their story is precious and there is no doubt that they encourage each other to BE BETTER at everything, everyday and thats THE most important thing. they make a beautiful couple inside and out. im very happy for them to say the least!! you can read about my friendship with stacey here if you wanna.. =)

last wednesday she msged me wanting my mailing address.. wedding invites, save the dates, reception invites.. all seemed like reasonable explanations. i didnt question. just sent her the info. on friday this adorable package came in the mail!

i was genuinely surprised, honored, thrilled, elated, humbled.. i could go on and on and on! =) there may be 25 bridesmaids for all i know... [i didnt ask] but im so excited that she would choose me to be in the mix!

on friday afternoon i met kp and a few of his coworkers for the very end of their happy hour. its nice getting to know the people who make up his day at his new gig. after seven years with basically the same crew.. its a little awkward to hear him talk about people i really dont know. it definitely helps to be able to put names and faces [and a bit of personality] with his stories from the j o b. thanks for including me KP!

friday night, KP made plans for us to see our favorite texas country band. they were playing at the granada theater in dallas. i had never been there.. and KP hadnt been in years. LOVE IT! really a cool place to see a show. we stayed up WAY WAY WAY too late with our friends gilly, mandie, chris, mark, oscar and charlie hanging out on the tour bus. its been a long time since we've done that. even charlie stayed up til 4AM. =) it was the perfect birthday weekend celebration! getting home around 5AM and sleeping til noon is THE best way to forget that you just turned 35!

someone next to us was gracious enough to take a pic of our double date foursome.. its fuzzyy and pretty terrible but i would normally just keep it and say thank you.. except that creepy blond in the back ground really bothered me. so we ask to try one more time.

hahaha!! and there she is again!! even creeeeepier! lol. oh well.

thanks for rocking out charlie and mark.. you are the best! and thanks to creepy people everywhere for sabotaging cool pics. =))

we had lunch on saturday on a patio at OTB with the little man. KP posted a ridiculous story on facebook about a piece of gum. all completely alleged ; ) and then we headed over to the shoffners for football and ufc. and a little karoake of course.. =) on sunday we did absolutely. nothing. and it was wonderful!! KP and the kids were off on monday for MLK day. i worked way too hard cleaning house..

and today its business as usual. four day weeks are the best tho! here's to another week of keeping track and blogging as we go instead of playing catch up!

two bday celebrations down..

..two to go!! yay! turning thirty five hasnt been so bad to me yett!

on wednesday night all the family and might was well be family met for dinner at the country club. [palmers party of 4, shoffners party of 4, shoffners party of 2, carters party of 4, mincheys party of 4] nine adults. nine children..all under the age of six except for kenners. THAT is some work. but we pulled it off with the help of the kids club and the big kid. she has turned into quite an accomplished babysitter. =)) and i think it was a success! good food and good conversation!! my favorites!

on thursday night all the girls left all the guys with the all the kids and headed OUT! mmmmmm!! GNO. we had dinner on the square in mckinney and then a little pub crawling. it was greatness. girl time is a must. i had a blast with twelve lovely ladies!

tonight im going a birthday date with my hubby. to the grenada in dallas to see charlie robison. he planned that all by himself. does he know me or what??

and tomorrow!! my sister-in-law and i are going to get some new INK!! unless she chickens out. lol! just kidding jenny. not an options.. i will not let u chicken out!

and then a three day weekend!

day 7! happy birthday to me!

..one full week of blogging! happy birthday to me! =)) on my birthday in years passed ive tried to reflect on the year before... 2011 in one word. ugh. ...ive decided to try to find the silver lining/what i learned from all the icky experiences weve been thru..

this one day back in january i crashed the hubbys precious giganto truck in our teeeny tiny drive way. the next week i parked it on the front curb to avoid that happening again. we were awakened at 4ish AM by the mckinney pd. someone had stolen the wheels and tires and left the precious giganto truck on teeny tiny concrete blocks. ooops. lesson learned? im pretty sure i can count the number of times ive driven the truck since!
if ever you AND your spouse have a broken foot at the exact same time.. no matter how much it hurts and how ridiculous it seems.. its a great story. you will look back and laugh!!
after years of employment with the same company, last may they decided that they didnt need KP or any of his co-workers/friends any longer. it was a trying and stressful time in our lives for sure.. BUTTTT we had an amazing 6 months hanging out! wouldnt change that time in our lives for anything.
health problems can put you thru an emotional roller coaster!!! in the end they always seem to work out for the best.
one saturday in july my family lost someone very special to a terrible accident. the story is heartbreaking to say the least and the aftermath is even worse. yet somehow the little angel who survived and her amazing daddy make me smile every single day. i cannot imagine them anywhere other than right here in my everyday life. it would no doubt be better for them if mommy was still here.. but i count this time with them as a blessing despite the circumstance.
somehow.. in 2011 while i was 34.. my baby girl grewww up! like night and day. dont get me wrong.. she still has her moments but im starting to realize that those moments are more about being a girl [ugh] than about being a child. she will always be a baby to me.. silver lining -- sharing shoes! =))

and i think thats all ive got. =)) im off to snack time with my little buddy!

day 6. catch up.. [just a little]

today was a pretty ordinary day around here.. i went grocery shopping before the sun was up. kennedy and kyle used all the hot water. ;) korb hummed a random country song that most five year olds have never heard of over breakfast. the crockpot was brewing up something for dinner long before lunch was served. little kids blessed my morning with mostly laughter and cheer. and during blogtime [aka afternoon nap] it seemed that i had nothing worth writing about today. ugh.

and so.. while im not completely committed to playing catch on posts i shouldve written about [only trudging forward and doing better].. there are a few that -- well, i shouldve written about! =)) so todays post is backdated to dec 2010. that seems to be about the time i completely fell off the blog wagon. ha! check check check it out. red river vacation with the carters!!! theres lots of pics!!

day 5. its monday.

..its monday. ugh. kennedy stayed the night at maddie tuckers last night [side note. did you know that she has at least four other friends named maddie? glad we decided on kennedy instead of madeline? every. single. day.] anyway.. korbie slept in our bed because he was 'too scared to be upstairs with out sissy' at his bedtime and i was too lazy to carry him upstairs at our bedtime. miley barely slept at all. she was completely freaked out by a rainstorm. so around 1AM she and i moved to the sofa. ..ya know, so that KP and kp could get some rest. =/ tonight everyone is sleeping in their own space!! thankfully our sunday was full of naps and laziness or i would be draggggging!

day 4. ..introducing iRemember. =)

ok. so not only have i failed at blogging.. the fundamental issue is much deeper. a good blogger [and photographer] takes pics along the way to remember, document and help tell the 'story'. yea... ive been lacking in that department since my photog business really started to take off. BUT!!! i do take pics with my iPhone alll the time! and so do the kids! so ive cooked up a cheeeesy title [that im not completely sure i can use but i suppose i can change it if it ever comes up..] and i going to use the pics to help remember what we were doing all those months.. =))

side story.. i thought of this idea a few months back but never followed thru after downloading and organizing all of our pics. meanwhile kennedy is completely addicted to instagram. she [along with her best friends] take pics of EVERYTHING.. from each other to their food. it really makes me smile! on christmas day were were at KPs nana's house in grand prairie. korbie asked if he could play with my phone. a few minutes later he came running in the house with a 'BEAUTIFUL leaf' just for mommy. i graciously accepted it from him! sweet boy [sometimes]. then i told him that he should take a pic of it! his response,

'ummmm.. i already did. duh.' haha! thats my boy!

he also captured this lovely butterfly.. [aka moth] lol. i love it!

the kids stayed the night at friends houses last night. that suits kennedy completely. ..but korbie - not so much..yet. he fell asleep every single time we got in the car today. he was an absolute crazy person because he was overtired. kp decided to play golf. glutton for punishment, i took the littles to a movie. actually.. it wasnt a terrible experience. alvin & the chipmonks. chipwrecked! well worth the $50.. =)) and now we are off to a kid-intensive evening at my brothers house. should be a blastttt!

im not sure ive introduced the newest member of our family [jk - i know i havent. cause i stink at blogging]
..her name is Miley. =))

almost 4 months old. almost 3lbs.

she is a shorkie just like her older sister, Maggie ..but so far - thats where the similarities stop! she is CRAZYYYYY.. she eats like a machine. her features are very very very yorkie while Maggies is shih tzu dominant. she wont sleep all night. she chewwwws up shoes like its her job. and she is a fattty fatty fatso. and i love her so so much!!! every crazy minute. thanks baby for a wonderful christmas present. she is precious.

ive started this post at least 5 times.
1. ..beating myself up for not blogging.
2. ..hating on 2011.
3. ..wishing i had more time.
4. ..afraid to commit in case i fail again.
5. ..promising to catch up knowing that will NOT happen.

the truth is.. i want to blog! and im the only one who can make it happen. when looking back, the long detailed posts make me smile =)), but so do the short everyday ones. honestly, i know that its cyclical. just like everything else in life.

it doesnt help that im an all or nothin kind of girl. its hard for me to find middle ground on just about anything. scrubbing a stain in the pantry becomes painting the entire thing.. im incapable of doing a load of laundry. it just piles up til i have [or make] the time to wash, dry and put away every stitch of clothing in the entire house except what everyone is wearing that day... i make all the beds everyday..but if i cannot find the time to clean the floors in the entire house on the same day.. i dont do any of them. ive seen jimmy buffett 18 times in 13 years. i cant seem to make time to talk to my best best best friends in the entire world enough (whatever that means) [unless they live down the street from me]..so i havent talked to them in months. in my 20s i racked up so many frequent flier miles that i took my entire family on vacation and flew home to texas at least 4 times a year for free. every year. in my 30s well.. hmmm.. there was that trip to chicago in 07, and we went to the east coast in 2008. seriously. all or nothing. personality flaw.. perhaps. but i guess its who i am?

anyway.. if im going to do this.. i want to do it right! so im secretly [haha.. secretly on the www. ??] committing to NaBloPoMo. secretly... like if you read this YAY!! but im sure that my mom and my hubby and the little kid and my friends who used to blog all the time too and whoever else that followed this blog for four years before i failllled in 2011 probably wont until i broadcast to them that im blogging again! so by secretly i mean.. until im in the swing of things again i wont be making that announcement.

but at least the weather seemed to be looking up last sunday. =)) we sat around in our backyard FOR EVER before heading over to the carters for a little birthday dinner for my bestie jaime! happy birthday [again] james!! busted out my camera and tried to get a few shots of my precious boys -

since sept 24, 2008 we have shared our home with an adorable guinea pig named talulah. -- [thats almost 2.5 yearsss] -- ive read that the average life expectancy of a piggy is 4-7 years but i dont know a pig older than talulah and i know a LOT of pigs. ; ) she started a trend on our street and before long she was one of 5 or 6 piggies in our neighborhood! she was a beloved family member. kennedy was definitely her mommy and korbie was definitely her biggest fan. last saturday our sweet talulah left us for piggy heaven. she will be greatly missed and not easily replaced. RIP Tutu we will always love you!!

Korbie - You mean that Full Moon? yea.. its just one of the phases Dad. It goes crescent, then quarter, half, then gibbous [yes - i had to look up how to spell gibbous], then full. Over and over. Until we die.

hmmm - guess he told you, Dada. =) wow. preschool is really paying off. he might be a genius before he starts kinder in a year and a half! =))

in early december the carter family and the palmer family teamed up for a double family vacation to red river, new mexico. kyle, kennedy and i have been many times before and it wasnt korbie's first trip to the mountains.. so when you were FOUR and you went your first [for bex] or second [for korb] ever professional basketball game [yea right!], did you get to set almost courtside? ME EITHER!! in fact.. i was thirty-something at the game we attended last night and it was the closest ive been by FARRR!!

kp's best friend from high school, actually coaches basketball at their hometown high school, had the priveledge of coaching his girls on the court at the american airlines center yesterday. kp spent the afternoon cheering them on and the plan was for the kids and i to join all of the for the mavericks game in the evening. i thought i would just jump on craigslist.com and find last minute tickets [you know..my usual plan =)] - before making my fabulous little brother came thru with freebies - even better! it wasnt apparent what a deal we had made until we made our way to fabulous seats!!

side note -- let me tell you about my little salesman korb convinced kennedy that it would be better for him to take a buddy this time if she would give up her seat and he would let her go next time with a friend and give up his seat.. if only she had known we would be sitting SO close =)) THANK YOU UNCLE NICKIE!!!

..now thats a GRRRREAT weekend!! =)) like most thanksgivings we spent three days and three nights in action packed childress, texas visiting my mom and dad. we had a WONDERFUL time!! my daddys birthday is nov 25 [which was thanksgiving day this year] so we got to do a WHOLE lot of celebrating. my favorite part was the pumpkin pie. im pretty sure kps favorite part was the trip to galvans on friday or maybe his round of golf with his best buddy brye.. and im positive that the highlight of the weekend for kennedy, korbie and maggie was the trip to see santa on friday night. [and somehow i only got pics of their favorite part.. ] it was REALLY really REALLY cold outside. but we endured the line. smiled, albeit fakely, for a few photos and voila - now we have a blog post to show for it. =)) altho im sure these pics tell the story themselves.. i feel the need to narrate. =) soooooo here we go.

with all of thanksgiving week off, we planned to take care of the business of settling up our world series bet on tuesday. tattoo tuesday! and as fate would have it - that very tuesday just happened to be the day that Josh Hamilton was named AL MVP - coincidence? wow! =)

almost every inked person we know in the area said that saint & sinners in carrolton was THE place to go. we had stressed over what to get and where to put it for weeks.. but our appointment day we were pretty calm and collected. we had lunch on the patio at OTB. then took a nap. =) ahhhh lazy ~~vacation~~ staycataion days are THE BEST! and the rest as they say is history. a permanent reminder...

a little background. @staceywaceyOKC is one of my buddies from high school! one of those havent seen in AGES, reconnect on FB and promises to keep in better touch friends. only usually 'keeping in touch' just means FBing, commenting on statuses and watching each others lifes happen through pictures [which is wonderful] but for stace and i it has turned into SO much more than that. weve made time to hang out IN PERSON no less than 5 times in the last year [admittedly - she always comes here but im working on that - i will GO TO HER in 2011. committed] ive met 'her friends' [LOVE THEM] and she has spent time with 'my friends' too! i can honestly, with out a doubt, tell you that stacey is not just a friend from high school or a FB friend, she is my friend! right now. in my everyday. and i love her.

so.. on with my ray story. i got a random text from stacey in october asking if i was a Ray Lamontagne fan and if i would like to see him in concert? never heard of him. =( but its no secret that i love music or that concerts, LIVE music, is my favorite thing! so im game!! a little research.

i was honestly SO excited to hang out with her.. and to see something new! but i had NO IDEA what a treat i was in for. ABSOLUTELY amazing!

...of my life. well.. besides the day my precious daughter was born when i was 22. and the day i met the love of my life when i was 27. or our wedding day at 28. or when my amazing little boy was born at the ripe old age of 29. ok.. so there have been lots of amazing moments. maybe i should say the greatest moment of 30s? thats justifiable. =)

after much debate.. last friday night KP and i accepted invitations from two different friends to attend game 6 of the ALCS playoff series. our little Rangers vs THE ny yankees. we were up 3 games to 2 in the series.. but winning meant moving on to the world series and not a real possibility. and then theres the fact that theyve lost every. single. game. weve been too all season. =( but the thought of them actually winning and having a chance to witness it in person seemed to good of a thing to pass up. so we went. i rode with my brother and sister-in-law to meet up with my friends. and kp met us at the ballpark to meet up with my brother and sister-in-law. the three of them sat in the CBS11 suite. and i sat with my good friend kelsey.. who is the niece of the late George Steinbrenner, right behind third base. =) of course cell reception was limited.. actually, its fair to say nonexistent.. so getting back together after we went our separate ways was just shy of impossible. the absolute only thing that couldve made the moment that aRod swung that last strike and we claimed victory any sweeter is if we were all together.. but looking back the moment was amazing no matter what and i wouldnt change being THERE for anything in the world. thank you Kelsey!

background: i have a tattoo. i got it in Yuma, Az circa 1995.. 18 yrs old. this lucky girl got a four leaf clover on the inside of her right ankle. and 15 yrs later i still love it. i love the memory of the innocense of that time in my life.. and ive been wanting another for quite sometime now.. but the hubby isnt on board. cant really explain why. he's always just been anti-tattoo. in the early part of the summer we had a conversation that went something like this..

james: i think this is OUR year. the Rangers are going all the way!
kp: ummmmmmm, yea about that... its probably not going to happen sweetheart.
james: i think it is! ....so how bout this. if the Rangers make it to the World Series will you get a tattoo?
kp: for sure! that is a bet i will take!

*i should note that he is a die hard rangers fan. just a realist.

we've joked about it many times over the last four months or so.. but i dont think he EVER dreamed it could be a reality. AND now.. three wins into the ALCS championship.. its really real! one more win and the Rangers WILL be in the World Series.. and anti-tattoo KP is getting some much needed INK. =)

we had a wonderful weekend! and didnt take a single picture.. =( but i did allow kennedy to touch my camera for a few min to snap a picture of her dad and i before we scurried out to watch the rangers WHIP the yankees in game 2 of the alcs series..it was mostly just redemption for getting whipped in game 1..but a tied series is a tied series! and just after we both got MAJOR haircuts.. my 4 inches are, of course, an after thought to KPs complete change. and just for the record.. i dont hate it. i just like it better long. =(

[this is the part where i tell you about another post i will only admit to backdating this one time.. and then we will all pretend that it existed on that day forever=)] there arent too many before pictures.. but you can see his lovely locks in this post. =) we were allllll dressed up to attend the wedding of a great friend. it was, with out a doubt, one of the most beautiful weddings i have ever been too. congrats ANDY & KIM!

after the wedding we spent the rest of the night in denton for UNT homecoming. weve been every year that ive lived here. since 2004. it never fails to be a ton of fun! =))

wowwww! its been ages since my last rendition of he said she said. =) im sure ive missed SO many cute things..

a little history.. i love country music. wellll, i love all music, honestly. ive listened to my fair share of hiphop - when you live on the east coast you have to or they'll kill you. =) and thankfully [due to my husbands fading addiction] we dont listen to much trance/techno anymore but it is a definite requirement in this marriage to at least be aware of the likes of paul van dyk. =) and of course i have my faves that absolutely do not fall in the country category.. high school stuff like the cure, u2, rem and pearl jam. stuff from my 20s like train, stp, the offspring.. the list goes on and on.. three doors down, fuel, creed{shhhh}, coldplay {even if it makes me gay =)}.. not to mention my love affair with jimmy buffett that began in 1998 and only grows stronger with age. what makes me happy right now is eyb, charlie robison, josh abbott band, pat green, randy rogers band, bleu edmonson, bart crow, even casey donahew. when i hear my little guy singing along to this.. it makes me ridiculously happy. =)

to say that i am a kiss 106.1 girl nowadays would NOT be accurate.

HOWEVER.. ive recently come to realize that kennedy IS that girl right now. so in good mommy fashion ive been diligent to keep up with current hits. its a must to know what your 'tweens are singing along to, right? i remember a tape that my mom bought for me when i was really young. i begged for it at walmart. i went straight upstairs and listened overandoverandover trying to learn all the words. the first time my mom overheard me mumbling prince's darling nikki lyrics she took that tape away. and i never saw it again.. from then on stephen curtis chapman and dc talk were the only tapes allowed in my room. =) it wasnt like prince was on the radio in childress.. but thats not the case in 2010. she can listen to whatever she wants on her radio or iTouch when im not right there with her. so, for the most part, when im with the kids at home or in the car.. we listen to whatever SHE wants to listen to. like it or not. must be aware...

...confession time. when i moved to texas, well - back to texas, i wasnt exactly what you would call a baseball fan. football? love it! basketball? anyday! hockey? mmmm absolutely. nascar? 100%. golf? i love tiger as much as the next ~~guy~~ girl. [wellllll, as it turns out.. not quite as much =)] but baseball? not so much. going to a baseball game was always fun. on the east coast we did our fair share of supporting the local minor league team. =)

but REAL baseball.. like on TV.. not so much. i quickly learned that that attitude was not going to work with KP around. ..so i started paying attn. with 162 games a year i had to get on board. i found out quickly that the real reason i was bored with games before was that i really didnt know anything about baseball.. it always seemed pretty straightforward before. your team bats.. 3 outs.. your teams is out in the field. 3 outs.. you bat again. boring. but that is not the case. theres so much more to it.. =) anyway.. for the last three or four years i AM what you would call a baseball FAN. and proud of it! even tho those 162 games are usually all the baseball we experience in texas. but not this year! last night OUR TEXAS RANGERS won the ALDS championship.. and starting on friday they will begin the ALCS championship series w the Yankees. who knows what will happen.. but the fact that they are 4 wins away from the world series is ridiculously exciting! absolutely love it!

..i blogged 106 posts in 10 months. in 2008, 133 posts. 2009 = 60.. and in 2010 so far ..a whopping 15. at this rate in 2011 i will be out of the blogging bidness altogether. pathetic really. the funk is unexplainable. cant put my finger on it. life is definitely busier.. two jobs will do that for you, even if you are the boss. korb demands lots of attention. and the drop off directly correlates to his decline in napping. two naps a day in 2007 & 2008 VERY productive. one nap a day in 2009.. half the naps - half the posts. and well.. he might have had 15 naps in 2010. maybe. =) my mom blames it on fb.. but thats not it. im totally just out of the habit. perhaps burned out for a while.. but over that.

the solution is to MAKE time, not EXCUSES! im pretty sure no one will read this.. unless i ask them to. [according to google analytics a few people still drop by daily tho..thanks guys! =)] SO.. this is really just commitment to myself. ive read of others participating in NaBloPoMo [blogging everyday for a month to create a habit] or Project 365 [a photo a day for a year..] and ive always thought they were cool ideas. but i dont have time for that! my daycare requires 10 hrs [albeit somewhat divided] attention a day 5 days a week. ive done 32 photoshoots not counting 2 weddings in the first 40 weeks of this year as my parttime job. [awesome! =)] not to mention just about all the cooking, cleaning, laundry etc that it takes to make team palmer go around... and somehow found time to sleep, eat enough to gain 10lbs [ick..luckily i only have 5 more to lose after a summer of junk-food-a-holic-jammmmmmi] and take on the extra responsibility of a puppy who requires the attn of a newborn! surely i can make time to fondly remember all the chaos that is our lives. SURELY!

so here i go. wish me luck. =) i think i can..i think i can..i think i can get back on track!

life with maggie..

…has been interesting to say the least. a few days after we brought her home and snapped this ADORABLE shot..she became very ill. by friday we were in the vets office in a SERIOUS state of deja vu. having just been through all the trials and such of living with a sick pet who spends more time at the vets office than at home is still a REALLY fresh wound for all of us. [note to self.. three months might not have been long enough to wait]. anyway… good news and bad news. all of her blood work and test results were normal. so basically they had no idea what was going on. a week passed with a few more bad days and then a few good ones so i thought we were out of the woods.. until friday. she was fine in the morning. but when i went to feed her lunch she was completely limp. couldnt stand or lift her head. COMPLETE panic mode. shes only been with us for a couple of weeks but she IS my baby! =/ i am up at least twice a night with that tiny little fur ball and we have definitely bonded. thankfully nick & jenny walked in the door minutes after i found her. nick stayed with the kids and jenny rushed maggie and i back to the vets office. i was a crying mess. =( anyway.. after a full day of DRAMA and a weekend of feeding her/giving meds every 3 hours, around the clock, the days are getting better and better. she is so spunky and a pure joy to have around. a definite plus as an addition to our family. vet bills and all. =)
we have a photo shoot planned for the Ks birthday pictures this week.. something we do every year! [looking back at 2009] and they want to include the baby. SO on sunday we had a little improptu practice in the backyard with her. it didnt go exactly as planned… but we got some cute shots just the same. =)

cannot believe its even possible that my kennedy is turning eleven today. CRAZY! she is the sweetest, sassiest, smartest, spaziest {thats def not a word =)}, silliest, girliest {evidently thats not either..}, funniest, prettiest, chattiest, sincerest tween i know. and i love her with all my mommy heart. i remember the day she was born like it was yesterday and im absolutely sure she and i have already created a life time of memories and weve only just begun our second decade together. she will always be my baby girl and she is quickly becoming a wonderful friend as well. i love her heart. and every new freckle on her sweet little nose. she is my little miss magic and she is quickly learning to make up her own mind.. someday she's gonna learn how to fly. but for now im going to celebrate another birthday with her big smile. and pretend like she will be my little girl forever. love you angel-bugg! hope today is great!!

the kids and i went to the trade days event here in mckinney this weekend. it was hot.. i splurged on lemonade. i told the kids we were NOT spending all day OR a fortune. they could have something small. she is small alright.. =) 1.2lbs to be exact. she's an 11 week old shorkie [imperial shih tzu & teacup yorkie mix]. and she is everyones new favorite person in the house. love her so much!

FOUR! how can that be?? im absolutely sure i was just pregnant with his sweet little face last year.. wasnt i?? and wasnt it just a month ago that i was writing this post .. wishing him the happiest of first birthdays? it couldnt have been THAT long since his second birthday post.. and im absolutely positve i wrote this third birthday post just yesterday. UGH! where has the time gone?? he is SUCH a big boy. like for real.. a kid. not much baby left.. so sad for mommy. =(

he is 42 inches tall.. and 42lbs. looks like he has grown 2inches and added 4lbs in the last yr. [love that we can look back at old posts =)]
he has moved out of toddler sizes and into XS boys.. and for a full year he has been COMPLETELY addicted to 'basketball clothes'. mesh shorts and sleeveless jerseys. he can thank nana for the complete wordrobe of 'basketball clothes'.. it quite difficult to get him to wear 'regular clothes' [his words] unless he is going somehwhere..
..which is his 'new thing'. going to friends houses. his friends. sisters friends. grandparents. cousins. anywhere really.. as long as he doesnt have to stay home all day. the days of being content to 'do' whatever mommy is doing are OVER. =(
he is still a crazy person about sports. LOVES all of them! theres really not a game he wont watch or play.. [all while sporting his basketball clothes. =)]
he does still have his night night blanket. he needs it when he is tired or doesnt feel good. and he does still suck his thumb [a habit he picked up post NUK] when he has his night night. but mostly i dont care. he will give it up in time and then there will be NO baby left..
he is attending preshool again this year. still two days a week.. hopefully next year he will be able to go full time for one year before he starts kinder in 2012.
he did learn to swim this summer.. but still prefers the baby pool or floaties unless we are at uncle nicks house. for some reason he is much more brave there!
this year we had a BIRTHDAY party. with his FRIENDS! at the club pool. =) every year his birthday has fallen over labor day weekend and are usually with family.. or all of his buddies are out of town for the holiday. weve only thrown a party for him with friends when he turned one. it really fun to see all their little faces sing happy birthday!
due to this BEAUTY.. we will be postponing 4 yrs pics for a few weeks. =) im sure he wont change that much. but i DO have the pics from the birthday party to share! LOVE them!

we said goodbye to sissy the day after she finished 4th grade.. and started the countdown to her return.we napped a lot. spending precious moments with ‘night-night & thumb’. =) we said good bye to our sweet friend mason.. ugh. this picture makes me cry. we played a lot of cornhole..did a lot of swimming. and a little fishing. said hi there to our new toy. =)

..the FINISHED product! =) remember this post.. well its been updated again with these pics! its finally COMPLETELY complete! and all it took was a little craigslisting.. =) i sold our old appliances and bought these for a total out of pocket of only $150. yay! and they make all the difference in the world! LOVE it!

today while kp sat around at the airport trying to get to snow for a beloved snowboarding trip of his.. we got more snow here than we knew what to do with. well, thats not exactly true. the littles knew what to do. it was all i could do to keep them in the house. i did let them venture out for a little fun this afternoon. but i must admit that my real motivation wasnt exactly their pleasure.. it was mostly because i wanted to take a few sweet pics of them. two birds with one stone i guess! =)

a few korb funnies that i dont want to forget too soon..

after searching for what seems like DAYS for the lock kp keeps in his gym bag for the locker room, korb and i had this hilarious conversation..
mommy: KORB - where is that lock?? think hard buddy! where did you put it?
korb: im not sure mommy.
mommy: did you hide the lock?
korb: {looking puzzled that i would EVEN SUGGEST hiding the lock} uuuuhh.. no. it isnt BROKEN.

LOL.. oh i see. he only hides things he breaks.. note to self. =)

while being super lazy at nana and papa's over thanksgiving break.. i heard this conversation between korb and daddy.
daddy: korb, can i have your loooooooooong cool hair?
korb: {giving daddy that look.} uuuhhh..no. its attached.
daddy: {giggling} OH. well, then, how do i get my hair to be long and cool like yours?
korb: {shrugging shoulders} you just have to grow it. like a plant.

LOL! like a plant? too funny. and since november chia-kp has been growing his hair.. like a plant.. =) i would love to post a picture - but he wont let me near him with the camera. maybe next month.

all i wanted for christmas last year was a NEW kitchen!! thats not too much to ask for, is it? well.. not NEW exactly. i really just wanted to paint the cabinets. but the icky countertops didnt do them justice so for my birthday - you guessed it.. new countertops!! the best part is that we did all the work ourselves {with the help of our closest friends of course! thanks carters, mincheys & randy!} ..now if i can just talk him into a new oven and microwave for valentines day it will be complete!! =) the before pics are REALLY old.. like summer-2005-when-we-first-bought-the house-old but we hadnt really change anything since then. except the fridge and the diswasher.. not even those horrible grapes that we said would be the first thing to go! 4.5 years later.. =) check it out!!

i must admit that ive been begging kp to help me paint the cabinets for years.. YEARS I TELL YA! but it wasnt until i shared this link to my bloggy buddy's new kitchen that he agreed that he would do it. thanks amy horton! love ya!!

motivation! that’s what i need.. and i think i found it. i just reread this post from this time last year and laughed out loud. at myself.. love it. =) déjà vu. life is so cyclical, isnt it?? anyway, im not sure i actually dedicated a post to half the things on that list but just reading the list sparked memories from each event and thats what its all about, right?? so here goes.. all the things i would like to blog about and probably wont get to half.

• i have adorable pictures from korb, kennedy and macy's birthday parties in the fall that i must share!
• we spent most of thanksgiving week in childress with all the little shoffner grandkids.. but not before we anniversaried a little garage party with the shoffners and the mincheys. its officially a family tradition that we will have to keep up.. and perhaps my favorite part of thanksgiving week. =)
• while we were home for the holiday we took the kids to see santa and then on the annual childress treasure hunt. it was cold out. kp didnt get it. =)
• in early december we spent a weekend in ft worth like we have every year that weve known each other. pat green wasnt there. =( but we had a great time anyway!
• the ugly sweater party was a huge success. again. =)
• kennedy spent the christmas holiday with her other family. that always makes it hard for me to get in the spirit.. so i pretty much did all my shopping on christmas eve. but only because i couldnt put it off another day, or might have. we had a wonderful afternoon/evening with my parents, brother and sister in law. and then another grand celebration at kp's nana's house in grand prairie on christmas day.
• i did do a little shopping before the holiday.. choosing a new truck for kp! i think he loves it.
• somehow i convinced the love of my life to remodel our kitchen during our vacation week together between christmas and new years... 'we have a whole week off! we can knock out the whole project quickly!' i will let you know when its finished. ;) hmmm..what will i want him to remodel next new year??
• due to the kitchen remodel.. we celebrated nye at the mincheys. i thought i would be sad about the change of venue but it worked out fine and we had a wonderful time!
• this list isnt nearly as witty as last years. =)
• kp and i saw REK at the HOB and it was AWESOME!
• the cowboys won a play off game!
• i turned 33 and my sweet friend alyson welcomed a precious baby boy on 01.11.10 quite possibly the coolest birthday of all times. {it even beats 1.11.77, i must say, but i think its a tie with kyles birthday 4.7.74. numbers are cool.}

i think thats about it.. actually, im sure i missed something. but thats the point isnt it? old habits die hard. we will see if i can get back on track this year.

i hate that im always writing about our life in review but i guess writing about our life is the point of this blog so, while its busy, if in review is the best i can do it will have to be good enough. and november 2009 was busy indeed.

we spent the first weekend at tms for nascar. we had a wonderful time with old friends and made a few new ones.. as usual. the pictures never do it justice. well.. some of them do. =)
from high to low.. the next week i learned about the passing of a wonderful friend. its been difficult to face and talk about. not to mention a bit haunting.. but i think ive found a way to at least start saying goodbye with this post.

on friday night nicole got me out of the house for an much needed break from beating myself up over jelena's death. a little pat green always does the heart good. =) music is healing. on saturday night.. more friends more music at hanks .. we were introduced to a new texas country band - always a plus in our world. ive definitely added the bleu edmonson band radio to my pandora list. thanks randy!

twelve photo shoots{yay!} for jdp-photography.. a date weekend with my hubby.. a few days off and a wonderful trip to my hometown with my entire family did my heart good. it was the first time ive been home for thanksgiving since 1998. not sure how thats possible.. but its true. way over due. and completely a blessing.

and that was that. november. the good with the bad. lessons learned. memories made. not nearly enough pictures taken. such is life. and life is good.

i remember the day we met.. more than 5 yrs ago. my life was more than a little crazy. i was taking over a huge business that i probably had no business running.. based on my experience - not to mention the stress in my personal life. everything was new to me. the job. the city. the single parent thing. i missed my friends and all the familiar things about my old life.. dont get me wrong. it wasnt all bad. after all, i had chosen all the change and i certainly wasnt regretful but finding a real friend, another relationship, certainly wasnt priority. thats what made ours special. it wasnt work. technically i was your boss, but it felt more like we were partners in crime. =) you were always willing to stay late and help me with anything. i remember crying on your shoulder when you happened to be in my office for a meltdown or two {or ten ;)}. things were good in your life at the time and you were more than willing to be there for me. having moved here from abroad only a few short years before, after marrying the american man of your dreams and you didnt have many friends outside of work either. that definitely helped to build our bond but it wasnt what drew me to you. you were always so thoughtful. picking up lunch when you knew i hadnt had a free minute to go pick something up myself.. offering to help with the little kid just because.. and always helping out with the demanding busy work even when your sales might suffer. we made it through that first christmas and inventory together in the big D at the big D. of course its a huge store.. and i do remember most of the management, but it would be work for me to drudge up the last names of any other associate in my dept. in fact, im certain, near impossible.

by the end of january things were looking up. things in my life were settling in and i was offered a wonderful position with an amazing retailer down the hall.. but things in your life were turning upside down just as quickly as mine was evening out. a bitter divorce no one saw coming. threats of deportation. struggles with immigration i could only imagine. it was my turn to be there for you and i was gladly up to the task. we moved down the hall to that other retailer together. partners in crime once again. we found a place for you to live, albeit not at all what i would chose for you. the offer stood for you to live with us but the last thing you wanted to do was 'disrupt our home when we had just found our groove' {the funny thing is i can still hear you saying those words with that ridiculously thick accent.. i always loved the way you thought you were overcoming it tho it never changed - remember that accent reduction class you took - that makes me smile through tears every time i think of it.} anyway, you were determined to make it on your own and prove, only to yourself of course, that you were worthy to be here and that you could make it by yourself. not long after you filed for a divorce, i got engaged. and you were so happy for me. because thats who you were. our work life didnt change much.. we had lunch together and an occasional girls night. i drove you home from work to give you a break from public transportation a couple of days a week. you were grateful.. though you would never complain about the bus. we planned a little wedding together. you helped me pick out, well, everything, {while we should have been working =)}. another christmas and inventory passed. you always bought me gifts for both. spa gift certificates. completely selfless. we celebrated birthdays over dinners. we celebrated lunches just because we didnt feel guilty taking them.. =) i told you we were expecting a new baby long before i told anyone else in the store, just about the time your divorce was final. and you were happy for me. because thats who you were. you got your own apartment and bought a car! not to mention full citizenship after many hours of studying and learning things about this country i definitely didnt know {all while we should have been working =)}. things were good for both of us. there was always the gloom of a career in commission sales that could get you down but things were mostly good.

the baby was born in august and you were instantly his biggest fan. volunteering to babysit, even sleepover, ANYTIME. kennedy couldnt have been more pleased to spend time with you. she told me the funniest story just the other day about 'teaching you' to use the radio in your new car. im glad she has those fun memories with you. you made a trip home to see your family for the first time in SO long and i was SO proud of you for going. you were more help with the kids than any other friend {well.. becky might argue with that} and i could not have been more thankful to have you in my life. i returned to work from my maternity leave during the busiest time of year and over the next two months we discussed, almost daily, the fact that i was planning to leave the company to stay home when the holidays and inventory were over. you were always supportive and understanding yet reserved and leery. knowing that our friendship would surely suffer if we didnt see each other everyday like we had for more than two and a half years. even telling me that you couldnt make it there with out me. i remember assuring you that you would be fine. after all, you had overcome so much on your own.

that first year and a half we did a great job of chatting on the phone. meeting up for lunch once in a while. emailing. i started this blog.. and you always kept up with my musings. then, of course, the holidays would roll around and every ones life would get so much busier. we didnt talk too many times in 2009. im very sad about that. not that we were at odds at all.. just busy living separated lives. and i regret that so now. the last time i talked to you, you were excited about a new car and taking another trip home to see your family. =)

its so hard for me to imagine that you are gone. i will always wish that we had kept in better touch. that i had done a better job of keeping in touch. my heart is completely broken that you didnt call me before you made up your mind. im not sure i will ever understand why or how this happened.. but after a month of thinking of you everyday - sometimes the sweet moments i remember between you and the kids.. sometimes the laughing til we cried just because we were tired at the store.. sometimes imagining how lonely you must have been in those last moments.. sometimes selfishly wondering if you thought of me and if those thoughts brought a smile to your face or made the lonely harder.. after a month of trying to find a way to say goodbye and make sure your life has meaning - at least in mine - im writing to you to say thank you. thank you for nudge to take better care of my friendships. thank you for showing me how to care about people selflessly. and thank you for being my friend. i will miss you forever. rest in peace sweet jelena. i hope you have a merry christmas with your mom and dad this year. you deserve it.

yesterday i watched all day as the 'birthday wishes and semper fis' flooded my facebook news feed. its a comradery im proud to have known first hand for many years of my life. and today.. its our turn to thank all of you for serving this great nation. and a special thank you to all of you family members. moms, dads, husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, children, grandparents.. you give so much, sometimes everything. thank you to everyone whos given their time, their life and their loved ones in the name of freedom.

my heart aches today for you, kathy. im sure its a bittersweet pride you feel as you see flags flying and celebratory parades honoring all veterans. you are on my mind..

he was ADORABLE! and his daddy was pretty cute too. ;) he wore his costume on thursday night to the fall festival at our country club and then again on saturday for trick or treating at the cusanos. i wish i could tell you that he was as excited to put on his plex as our dj lance was.. but that would not be the whole truth. =) in fact.. my favorite quote of the evening was about seven houses into trick or treating.. and just minutes before this last pic was taken.. when he SAT down on the sidewalk and said, 'IM DONE. DOOOOOOOOOOOOONE. dont we have candy at home??' he makes a good point. =) and a good PLEX! **kennedy wanted to trick or treat in our neighborhood instead of going to the cusano's party... so she stayed with a friend and somehow i didnt get a single pic of her in her costume! ugh... we might have to recreate the event. hopefully it wont be as difficult to get her back into her costume as it was to get korb into his the first couple of times. =)

in some ways, its hard to believe that its only been 4 yrs since we toasted the beginning of our new family on that sunny october day in vegas..and in other ways, it seems like just yesterday that we were going out on the town in that long black limo to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter in our lives together..

today is school pic day at RJE. kennedy has been out sick all week with a virus but she was fever free this morning and really wanted to make a grand entrance on picture day with her new do. isnt it CUTE!its no secret how i feel about school pictures.. ugh. but whether i like it or not.. todays pic will be in the yearbook forever! and it should be a good one! =)

my little korb is LOVING 'school'. he is only there 10 hours a week but he talks about those 10 hours all week long.. this week he has been trying to list all of the names of the kids in his class. he came up with 10 at one time and i was so impressed that i wrote them down!

cause it feels like nothing much.. AND wicked busy all at the same time! weve spent SO much time with friends lately, which is LOVELY.. but shouldnt seem like much of a surprise. after all.. thats really what we do. BUT lately weve been spreading the love all over the metroplex and its been so fun! two weekends ago we ~~over stayed our welcome~~ had a great time at brad & michelle arnold's celebrating blakes incredible new job.. and last weekend we had a wonderful dinner {until 1am} at the cardwell's on friday night. followed by a night of beer and bowling with a crew of boys on saturday night.. {ben szabo is the devil} love it! and the next 3 weekends will prove no less friend filled and action packed. this weekend = homecoming at north texas this saturday & sweet baby macy's first birtday party on sunday, a visit with a wonderful old friend next weekend on friday & the last amphitheatre concert of the season on saturday {gary allen and EYB!}, followed by HALLOWEEN festivities the last weekend of the month. wow!! can you keep up? we love friends!

happy october! i failed to document.. well, if im being honest.. much of anything during the summer {sorry nana & gran-gran}. im hoping fall is a different story. and to start things off.. a little he said she said. {aka silly things my kids have said to me lately that made me laugh out loud. literally.}

korb: {soon after getting home from preschool and while zipping his pants leaving the bathroom} mommy, did you know that there are actually little balls inside the hangy part of my business?
mommy: lol. actually.... ??

now please excuse me while i text your dad about your discovery. he will be so proud. =)

kennedy: {a few weeks into her 4th grade career} mommy, most of the girls in my class are wearing bras this year. when do you think i will need a bra?
mommy: um. honestly. need one? it will probably be a while.

like when she's 25 and finally buys herself a nice rack.. =)

september in review..

just the highlights..
we spent labor day weekend with most of my family at lake lugart near altus oklahoma. it was great to see everyone.. and it was wonderful to get out of town! i took one million three hundred thirty seven pictures. ..ur.. maybe its just 337. but either way.. i havent had time to even look at them. let alone edit. they will be a surprise to everyone when i finally get around to them! i did, however, scroll thru and find one of my favorites to share.. love it. the day after we got back, 9-9-09, korb started preschool! i really cannot believe it.. and i must admit that it was really hard for me to let him go. after all, he is my baby. but he absolutely loves it! he has had the best time! he rides to 'school' with jaime and bexley every monday and wednesday morning. he would go everyday if he could. i love the little stories he tells about his teachers and his classmates. he has been singing new songs.. and even reciting the pledge of allegiance. what a big boy! on the 13th we officially welcomed COWBOY season with a family filled watching party at casa del palmer! we had so much fun with the shoffner's, carter's and minchey's! from the 17th-21st the kids and i were on our own while kp celebrated the upcoming marriage of one his best friends in vegas with about 1000 friends. ;) 1000. or 25. something like that.regardless, he had a great time and the kids and i were definitely not short on things to do ourselves! we had dinner at the cardwell's amazing new home on friday night. partied with the reddick's for gracyn's third bday on saturday afternoon. hung out with my favorite girls and our babies at the shoffner's on satuday night. watched the cowboys game with the minchey's on sunday evening and even squeezed in a pedicure on monday evening before enjoying daddy's return. and somehow i didnt take a single picture.. all weekend. not sure how that happened.

and as if all that wasnt enough stuff to highlight september.. the last week is a whirlwind to say the least. on wednesday night i got to hang out with the famed fab 4. =) erin was in town for the price-meyer wedding and she was able to make it a day early for an old school dinner with the girls. this is the only proof i have that she was here. again.. photography failure on my part. but dinner was great.. the margaritas were awesome.. the conversation was all over the place.. and the company was phenomenal. we miss you e.thurday the 24th = kennedy's 10th birthday! I. CAN. NOT. BELIEVE. my baby girl is TEN. it doesnt even compute. she requests something more and more grown up every year. and there will be a detailed posts about the evenings activities.. but to highlight.. kp and i took her to the house of blues to see bowling for soup. the evening was nothing short of heaven for her. she LOVED every minute. highlights of the highlights.. her own real digital camera. meeting members of the band. front row center stage. and staying up WAY past her bedtime. she loved it all!

from highs to low.. we picked korb up from his auntie cole and uncle derek on the way home. he was sound asleep and didnt really even open his eyes during the 10 min car ride. i tucked them in and went straight to bed myself. around 545AM i heard him crying and when i got to him i realised he was having trouble breathing. the lights were on and the nebulizer running within minutes. but nothing seemed to give him any relief. i called the pediatrician and then followed his instructions to go straight to the ER. after hours.. more breathing treatments.. and a big dose of a steroid we had a diagnoses of CROUP. the drs couldnt explain why it had hit him so hard.. so quick. just that it was an acute attack. it was SO scary. ive suffered from asthma my entire life and its miserable not being able to breath. but seeing your baby struggling for breath is a completely helpless feeling. he is still coughing a lot. and from what ive read it will take him several weeks to get over it completely.. but he'll make it. childhood viruses stink!

we did manage to get out of the house on friday evening for a family birthday dinner for kennedy at the local hibachi grill. her pick. =) it was nice evening.. just the 4 of us.

and on saturday the 26th, with the help of my wonderful brother and sister in law taking care of our sick baby, {thanks guys!} kp and i were able to attend jackie and marks wedding. it was beautiful! and it was so good to see all of our friends! congrats meyer's!

WOW! thats a lot of stuff! no wonder i havent had time to blog..

happy birthday day korb! he is growing up TOO fast. let me tell you about my three yr old.. {ouch, thats difficult to say!} well.. as much as i hate to admit it.. he's no baby. thats for sure.

he is a couple of pounds shy of 40 {37.5lbs to be exact} and a qtr inch shy of 40in. and he mostly wears 4T clothing.. they say 3 is the magic number but it seems like korbs magic number for three is 4. =)
he has been potty trained since two and a half {tho he does have an accident every now and then.. mostly at the carters house. ?? =)} he hasnt worn a diaper or pull up in 5 months. wow!
he's been a talker since before his first birthday.. but theres really nothing he cant say now. the days of i yuv you are long gone. he even pronounces the L in the middle of words now. he can recognize almost all the letters of the alphabet.. tho he is pretty stubborn about showing off those skills.
he is a sports fanatic! all sports. all the time. and showing off his sports skills, or sports knowledge, is something he definitely isnt shy about.
he has given up his nuk.. not entirely on his own.. but he didnt put up nearly the fight that i thought he would. and he has shifted his 'night-night' affection from the full size blanket he originally fell in love with to a more petite version that he found at target. still shiny on one side and soft on the other.. just not quite as big as the original.
his admiration of his big sis is stronger than ever and he will run right passed mommy to get to daddy most of the time. altho i cannot deny his mommas-boy tendencies when he is uncertain, uneasy or unwell. its always mommy to the rescue. {and it always will be little man}
his sleeping habits are a MESS right now. and im not exactly sure why.. he loves to sneak to sissys room and pretty much does EVERY night. she loves the company right now.. im sure she wont in a couple of years but we will cross that bridge when we get there.
he has finally found a love of tv. not sure if that falls in the positive category or negative.. but its definitely something new for him. his favorite shows are the backyardigans, imagination movers and jacks big music show.
he is a L.E.F.T.Y. for sure.
he loves the water! he has been swimming more times than i can count this summer.. he even has a teeny-weeny-tan. love it! of course its only visible by his white-tiny-hiney but its a tan just the same. he hasnt learned to actually swim yet this summer. hopefully with a few lessons he can master it next year.
he is starting preschool for the first time next week. its a mon & wed program at fbc mckinney. jaime actually found it for bex and then offered for korb to carpool if i wanted. im super excited about my little boy and her little boy going to school together! like lamar elementary circa 1981 all over again. =)
we started celebrating his 3rd birthday on sunday with a party in east texas with dada's family and next weekend we are going to have a little party with my family too. ive already started a birthday party post to recap all the goodies he has rec'd. =)

and im sure there are a thousand more things to tell you about my 3 yr old.. with his big blue eyes and his long curly locks. we love him so! every single minute, even the most difficult ones, are a blessing. he completes us.

i have a ton of posts to catchup on after basically taking the summer off.. ive been enjoying these two BEAUTIES for the last couple of weeks. =) and now that school has started back i dont have the excuse of 'kennedy and i were {fill in the blank} during nap time and thats why i didnt {fill in the blank[including blogging but not exclusively oops]}..' its time to play catch-up! but for now.. i wanted to share this pic from last week. its my new FAVORITE! =) one of korbs last blissful carefree days with his nuk.. hmmmmmmmmmmm.. how do they grow up so fast?

UPDATE! dalton is in recovery! the procedure was a bit more difficult than expected.. but its over AND seems to have been a success!! yay! we couldnt ask for more! his kousins and his baby sister and i have been talking about him ALL day! we are so glad he did so well! way to go johnny way to go!
today my sweet nephew has made it to that blessed age weve been patiently awaiting for.. and it only took 3 yrs 4 mo and 4 days.. =) today dalton is having an ablation on his little heart. he was diagnosed with SVT at birth and has been dependant on a beta-blocker.. every 8 hours.. with out fail.. to keep his little ticker at a healthy rate.. by my rough calculations he has had just over 3600 doses. the wiki definition of ablation in medicine says, Ablation therapy using radiofrequency waves on the heart is used to cure a variety of cardiac arrhythmias such as supraventricular tachycardia... CURE. cure. CURE. thats what we are praying for. and it would be great if you could join us in lifting him up.

two weeks.. and two days! thats all the time left on the count down to kennedy's return! yay!! we are so excited. its been a looooooooooooonng summer for us and for her. im not sure who is more anxious for her to get here.. mommy or korb. either way the wait is almost over and then we will have 3 fun filled summer weeks to get our kennedy-fix before 4th grade begins.. 4th grade? someone slow things down PLEASE. she is growing up way to fast. no wait.. lets wait two weeks and two days before we slow things down ;)

a family filled 4th of july!

for the first time since i moved to texas in 2004.. we made no major plans for the 4th of july. and i must admit.. it was SO nice to relax! we were L.A.Z.Y. we spent lots of time at the pool. kyle had the chance to play lots of golf. and we had a family filled firworks celebration. my team of 3 and nicks team of 4 all piled into our tahoe to watch the mckinney fireworks show together. we even talked to kennedy on the phone most of them time we were waiting for the show to start..

korb blew out a flip flop {he stepped on a pop-top ;)} as soon as we found a place to set up camp. so he spent most of his time in dada's lap. i might have taken a picture or two.. or 10. the only thing better than hanging out with kp is hanging out with 2 kps!

he did make his way to auntie jennys lap too. cheese.

macy was her usual perfect-baby-self.

dalton was content to hang out until the fireworks began..

then he had to retreat to the truck.

we had so much fun! thanks, shoffners, for enduring the heat. and the blue cup adventure. ;) we look forward to maaaaaaany more mck 4ths together!

its safe to say that korb palmer is completely obsessed with sports. his little life revolves around playing catch.. swinging a bat.. throwing a football.. {and i quote} 'knocking the mess' out of a golf ball.. you name the sport. he would love to play it with you. or even just watch it with you on tv for that matter. one evening last week he was struggling with bed time. it was getting really late.. he had used every excuse in the book. i had tucked him in countless times. and then i heard his little feet in the game room.. AGAIN. ugh. but this time he didnt call for me and he didnt venture down the stairs. so curious about what he was up to i went up stairs to check on him. he was laying on the sofa with his blanket. he explained that he couldnt hear the baseball game that his dad and i were watching downstairs from his room. i laughed out loud as i took him to sissy's room, tuned in fox sports on her television and tucked my not yet 3 yr old all star in to fall asleep watching his beloved rangers. before i left the room he asked who the bad guys were that night... we always explain the other team as the bad guys... the angels baby.

the next morning i woke up early to run errands before kp left for work only to realise that our cars had both been broken into overnight. after the initial shock and disappointment in mankind.. and a short lecture from my husband about always locking the car doors nomatterwhat.. i called the police to file a report. the officers were still there when korb woke up. kp explained to him that a bad guy had been in our cars and taken some stuff. later in the day we had this conversation

korb: mommy can you please go get my faaaaaaaaaavorite backyardigans dvd out of the truck?
me: what if its gone? what if the bad guys who broke into our cars took it?
korb: gasp. {and then greatness..} you think bobby abreu took my mission to mars?

lol. i dont think bobby abreu was stealing stuff from our cars little man.. but i LOVE that you do. crazy kid!

so ..we like concerts. sometimes i think its important to reiterate the obvious. =) since april we have seen the usuals.. pat green, jimmy buffett, kenny chesney and charlie robison. and tonight we are on our way to see KID ROCK! lynyrd skynyrd AND kid rock actually. and i am SO excited! the last time we saw kid rock i was 7+ months pregnant with korb and it was interesting to say the least. the show was amazing. our seats were great. i have an ironic story about a bag of cotton candy that i'd love to share but im choosing not to blog about.. and im definitely glad that we went! but i anticipate this summers show will be a little more comfortable. and im e.x.c.i.t.e.d. {but i think i already said that} now i just have to decide if im taking my camera..

oh..and its probably worth noting that korb is not going with us this time. =) he will be chillin with his uncle derek. thanks d-rock. youre the best..

kennedy {crying}: i was at school. the teachers and i were upset and all the other kids were looking at us like we were crazy.
mommy: aw. im sorry kenners. im glad that you understand the significance. we understand why youre upset.
kennedy {still crying}: thank you for worrying about me mom. i knew you would understand. i should have pretended like i didnt know so that you or dad could tell me.

lol. if only we could always hear news {good or bad} from the right people.

redocorating & refocusing

now that the daunting task of redecorating is out of the way maybe i can get back to just writing..if im being honest its not all that much work to redecorate the blog. in fact i LOVE digi-scrap booking. but ive been wildly productive around the house in the days ive been absent on the blog. so, i fear becoming a slave to the blog world again because that equals a dirty unorganized house. there has to be balance.. but its seems ive never found it. all or nothing. thats how i roll. ;) there is a point, i promise. even if its just a reminder to myself. last night we were at kp and derek's softball game. 6:30pm. 100+ outside. chasing korb around like a crazy person. i talked him into sitting just for a minute next to auntie cole on a bench in the shade. brayden was sleeping peacefully in his car seat/stroller.. which is a korb hand-me down and it brings back SO many memories to see his tiny little self all snug and surrounded by combi grey & orange.

korb and i were admiring him when nicole mentioned that she had looked back thru old blog posts today to see how old korb was when he did this & that. aw! i love that!! i love that we can look back.. LOVE IT. thats what blogging has always been about for me. preserving memories. i have to snap out of this blog-funk! thanks nicole for a little motivation. AND i see a blog in your near future. weve gotta watch that baby grow! i vote for mincheytexas.blogspot.com. i will even help you decorate. :)

a whole lot of NOTHING!

thats what we have been up to. mostly hanging out with friends and family... the best part of summer, right?! i havent posted in forever. and i really want to.. but it always seems like something else always occupies my time in the afternoon. and the fact that i desperately need to update the photos on my blog header seems like a lot of work. so every day i put it off for another. im thinking july will be the month i really get back into the groove of things.

for now.. i thought a brief update would be better than none. this little guy is absolutely OOC.

his sleeping habits are a mess. his eating habits are a mess. he talks all the time {well, maybe thats not completely out of character}. and its hard to be mean to him because he is so stinkin cute {and smart which equals cute to me=)} ...basically in a nutshell he has become KENNEDY. they are one in the same. baby kennedy. im not sure if it keeps me from missing her or makes it worse. but i do want to remember a few kennedy-esque things that have come out of his mouth lately.

one night recently after sending him to bed no less than 5 times. and listening to EVERY excuse he has ever heard her come up with {or so i thought} ..i have to go to the bathroom. ..i forgot to tell you something important. .. i need a snack. i heard the pitter patter of his little feet on the stairs again. 'mommy?' 'what korb? what now?' 'i need some tylenol. im feeling sick.' REALLY? is he almost 3 or almost 8?

after a long afternoon of bickering with his cousin last week i heard him say to dalton 'i can hit you with this book or this baby doll. those are your options.' what a turd! i promise i intervened. there was no hitting. and i only laughed out loud about it later so as not to encourage him. but seriously.. those are your options? he spends too much time with mommy!

and finally.. a few saturdays ago he and i were at lowe's. he spotted a display of tape measures and promptly asked to play with one. my answer was no, not this time. he asked if i remembered last morning {which equals any day other than today} when he was playing with that tape measure at lowe's and he whacked sissy with it. i do remember that.. i remember it well. and then he said 'i wish sissy was here.' me too buddy. me too. 'i wish she was here so i could whack her with a tape measure.' that was ALMOST sweet. ALMOST.

a puppy. after we swore NEVER again. here we are.. with a puppy. a sweet, loveable, and so-far well behaved puppy. we will cross our fingers that he STAYS that way and this isnt just the honeymoon phase. the kids absolutely love him.. and believe it or not it was kp's idea.

this years kenny chesney show was set to kick off the summer on may 2nd at pizza hut park in frisco. unfortunately we had other obligations and didnt plan on attending. but fortunately {for us that is}.. that show was rained out and as a thank you to the fans who did show up despite the weather kenny planned a make up show. SCORE! the second show was sunday the 17th of may and it was AMAZING! the tickets were GA. first come first serve. and the lines were SO long to get inside. but the show was well worth the wait! he played for 3.5+ hours. the first 2.5 hrs were a pretty normal kenny-show.. and the last hour was an awesome set of covers spanning from the police to david allen coe and EVERYTHING in between. im so glad we went.. it might have been the best concert ive ever been too. and thats a BOLD statement. =) the crew=derek and nicole & 3/4ths of team palmer. we let kennedy tag along ;)

**i think its important to note that kennedy has now been to 2 'real' concerts in addition to the cheetah girls, hannah montana and the jonas brothers. a private pat green show and the most amazing kenny concert ever. she is destined to be disappointed with whatever comes next. poor thing. ;)
